Carlson spoke to LetsRun.com about his men’s team’s runner-up performance at Nuttycombe, how Kipruto has adjusted so quickly to the NCAA, why he chose to recruit in Kenya for the first time, and the changing nature of NCAA cross country and track & field. ‘The NCAA is changing. And I can either complain about it and get left behind, or I can adjust,” said Carlson. “I think one of the frustrating narratives that’s going to happen is, oh, Colorado’s all Kenyans. Well, our #1 guy was Kenyan. But our #2, #3, #4, #5 were all American. And my Americans were as good, if not better than, everyone else’s Americans. And my international was as good, if not better than everyone else’s.”
